Biodiversity, black holes and equity.

A couple interesting talks coming up if you’re in Montreal this week:
On Thursday you can choose between the Earth and the sky with either Dr. Andrew Hendry and Humans, Evolution and the Future of Biodiversity at 6pm or Dr. Janna Levin and the Sounds of a black hole at 6:45. In case you’re looking for a tie-breaker between these two, I think the first on will be more geared toward the general public…and they’re serving wine after.
On Friday, Simon Levin, professor of biology at Princeton is giving a talk on Intergenerational and Intragenerational Equity and the Problem of Discounting which is just a fancy way of saying what should we worry about more: inequality within our generation (low and high-income countries) or inequality between our generation and next one given environmental degradation and global warming. Should be interesting. 4:15.
