Two years ago I saw Lhasa de Sela perform two songs with some friends of mine at a birthday party on a Sunday night. I was blown away. Blown. Away. I proclaimed, ‘That’s the best singer I’ve ever seen’.  I had heard this from other friends who loved her. I was mad at myself that I never saw her before this party. Amazing voice, amazing stage presence, amazing song-writing…everything.

Lhasa passed away on New Year’s day from breast cancer.
