Why people run marathons

Some of you know I finished my first marathon less than two weeks ago. I was sick, I slept poorly the night before and the last 5km were probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done all of which made crossing the finish line a huge emotional high. HUGE. Big enough that it could become an addiction.

Here’s a guy who ran for a different reason and, in the process, blows my accomplishment out of the water. In January 2009 he weighed 358 pounds and he felt like shit. Less than two years later, he’s lost 120 pounds, has at least one marathon and one IRONMAN TRIATHLON under his belt. Here’s his video. I know, I know. It’s cheesy. But it’s still an amazing accomplishment.
