Sweet, sweet Southern Souls

Hey! Getta load a this guy. Southern Souls, aka Mitch Fillion, filmed over 150 bands on their home turf in his first year of operation–for free. That’s dedication. You’ll find The Acorn using a railroad track as an instrument, Diamond Rings having a Christmas recital and Bahamas chilling by the fire. These videos are so intimate and cozy that I suggest you curl up with a glass of single malt and your favourite Christmas sweater before putting them on. That’s what I’m doing right now. Or rather will do this weekend, maybe.

Set aside an hour or two this weekend and check this site out.

Here are a couple of great Montreal bands filmed by Southern Souls:

YOUNG GALAXY – Firestruck from Mitch Fillion (southernsouls.ca) on Vimeo.

LAND OF TALK – Quarry Hymns from Mitch Fillion (southernsouls.ca) on Vimeo.

THE BARR BROTHERS – Lord I Just Can’t Keep From Cryin’ from Mitch Fillion (southernsouls.ca) on Vimeo.

Parlovr – Hell Heaven – A Take Away Show from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.

  1. I have wasted such good time on ‘La Blogotheque’ since you posted this…and I mean good time as in I actually didn’t feel too guilty as I watched and listened to Bon Iver (so amazing) singing in the streets of Paris. If only I could incorporate this into the research papers I am writing. Time well wasted as they say.
